Entangled by Maria V. Ciletti

„Entangled” by Maria V. Ciletti is not just a coming out of the closet novel for an almost 18 years old graduate in love with her former teacher, but it has a certain profoundness of inter-human relationships, I mean treason : how a woman that supposed to have loved another woman harms her by risking her job as a teacher, patience : on how a young girl develops into a young woman, yet her feelings still persist, judgemental : on how some Christian small groups treat homosexuality, mainly lesbianism.   Hayden Crissman is  the almost 18 years old graduate who is eager to find a purpose in life after highschool, as for the summer she leaves her native town for Eerie to work in a fast food with her best friend, Cali. Apparently, accidentally, she and Cali drop down at the Zone, the local gay bar, yet Cali is there for a purpose and Hayden surprisingly sees there Miss Spencer, her former teacher, who looks pretty bad, disappointed and hopeless. Hayden is secretly in love with Abb...

Gypsy 2017 - The great Naomi Watts shows many faces and a lesbian love

Image
There are certain actresses that I expect to do what Naomi Watts has done in Gypsy, mainly to play a lesbian love affair or a lesbian character so realistic as she does, for she has "antecedents" - Mulholland Drive (2001) “I asked her if she would diagnose Jean as having a disorder,” Rubin said. “But she said everybody falls on different spectrums of different disorders, and she didn’t think Jean was diagnosable, and I agree. This is not a story about a woman with a mental illness . . . we’re all capable of doing dark or bad things. Most people are not good or bad; they fall in the gray and do bad things. And showing women [on screen] who are always nurturing, good, or likable is not being honest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFODhiz1Srw " I u sed t o b el ieve that p eopl e det ermi n ed th eir o wn li ves. She left me breathless by Trin Denise

Image
I wanted to read a story like this for a long time as it involves a love that lasts over the years and perhaps it will last forever and which entangles so many social and moral themes. Sydney and Rachel were in love 13 years ago as they were teenagers, yet Rachel left Sydney for her parents’ prejudices in the name of the Lord and the Catholic Church, as such a love was abominable. In this lesbian novel, Trin Denise surfaces very deep moral, social and religious issues that still linger in our society, perhaps not in the US, but surely in Europe, especially in the South Eastern countries. Those issues are : lesbian love is denied by God and the Church, marital sexual abuse in a heterosexual marriage, embezzlement , employees are collateral victims of harsh business takeovers, employees treated as resources not humans, revenge and greed, perhaps misunderstood ideas of being wealthy (Maureen’s parents were fired by Sydney when she took over their company) Sydney Welsh is the main c...
