Hearts Aflame by Ronica Black

„Hearts Aflame” is a beautiful Bella Books style lesbian romance that this time involves a farm in Arizona that one of the main characters inherits, it’s a cute Western tale with many cowboy’s metaphors and glimpses of their lives. Our two main characters are : Krista Whyler and Dr. Rae Barrett. Krista  has a real estate business that’s working very well in the big city, yet she works to much and has no one to share with her success nor her auburn beauty, but her friend Suzanne. She had a wonderful childhood at the Whyler ranch thanks to her aunt Judith and uncle „tio” Clinton, yet on her road to success she forgot to come back to her roots and hasn’t been visiting her uncles’ for fifteen years and now she comes back because her aunt Judith is really sick and asked for her help. Liberty for American Citizens and minorities : African-Americans, Hispanic and Lgbt community after Donald Trump’s winning the US Presidency on 9th of November 2016

Image
After the results of the American vote on 9 th of November 2016 and the very surprising win the American Presidency from billionaire Donald Trump, there are many reactions and especially concerns coming from minorities : the ones that voted for Hilary, like Afro-Americans or Hispanic or the Lgbt community and because of Donald Trump’s campaign ideas like prohibiting abortion or building a wall on the Mexican border for which Mexico should pay or forbidding Muslims to enter America. Everyone fears America will become this great Island, concerned less about the world peace, but more worried for it’s own economy and people, I assume that’s why Trump won with a great  advantage in many central american and eastern counties. He promised people he’ll do things for them and he’s been voted by the whites, especially women and people after  50 years old – traditionalists or maybe Americans were fed up with American dynasties ruling America and don't want the Democrat ideas to continue for...

Rebeccah and the Highwayman by Barbara Davies

Image
„Rebeccah and the highwayman” is a lesbian  historical novel placed in England during Good Queen Anne’s reign. Those are dark middle ages times when countries knew two social classes : the very rich and the poor and some of the poor turned into Robin Hood’s because of the social differences. It’s not exactly a tale of the musketeers either, but highwaymen were highly rated and both loved and hated for what they were doing. In this turmoil of a world, our two main characters meet : the Dutton’s carriage is attacked by highwaymen on their road home, yet the elder daughter of the rich family : Mistress Rebeccah Dutton is yet fascinated by „Blue Eyed Nick”’s eyes and mannerism or pity when „he” doesn’t take her father’s ring away from her. I enjoyed how „Blue Eyed Nick”’s identity is kept a secret  from Rebeccah, yet I wished it would have been kept a secret from the reader, too. We make aquaintence with Kate, who’s a low class woman living with her landowner Alice, so our „Blue Eyed...

Susan Krieger – a woman to remember- lesbian scholar who lost her sight to find vision

Image
In my quest to find amazing women to whom, perhaps life was less kind regarding their health, and more fortunate to find wonderful people in their lives and to have managed to create for themselves wonderful careers too and also, happen to be gay, I found beautiful characters and amazing stories. This is one of them. Susan Krieger is a sociologist and writer, teaches in the Program in Feminist Studies at Stanford University. Her books include   Things No Longer There: A Memoir of Losing Sight and Finding Vision ;  The Family Silver: Essays on Relationships among Women ;  Social Science and the Self: Personal Essays on an Art Form ;  The Mirror Dance: Identity in a Women’s Community ; and  Hip Capitalism. Miss Krieger happens to get out of the closed and be an open lesbian and afterwards to  have lost sight. I loved how she found her way in this world proud and somehow people seemed kinder, they took lesbianism easier because of her lost of sight. And her guide dog, Teela, is amaz...

Camp Belvidere (2016) –lesbian short film- starring Astrid Ovalles and Molly Way

Image
I have been watching lots of short films with lesbian content, yet none has touched me so much like "Camp Belvidere" with Astrid Ovalles and Molly Way. It’s the story line and the strength of the characters that attracts and their clash ignites the burning flame between them. Loved the fact that’s set in the 1950’s in a girls’ camp, we have so little books, movies or any written evidence with lesbian content of that period that I actually grab every piece I find, yet I write only of the relevant."Am I making you nervous?, Gin says." "Camp Belvidere" is the story of Gin (Astrid Ovalles) and Rose (Molly Way), who meet at the girls’ camp Belvidere. Gin is the camp’s nurse, she’s in her 30’s, a beautiful, lonesome woman who seems to hide a certain secret,  it also can be seen  that she read and traveled a lot. Following the road less taken of lesbianism during the 1940-1950’s, Gin seems sad and hopeless towards any romantic interest, somehow asleep in her fe...
